OMP strategy produces reliable revenue forecasts in every market situation
worldwide.
Passenger and cargo markets are forecasted per flight at the detailed level of true O&D and class
of travel, including yields.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
|
The basic principle of OMP Strategy traffic forecasting is that it uses a multiple
path strategy, rather than one uniform approach.
This reduces the sensitivity for individual parameters and simple assumptions.
OMP Strategy taps into a variety of data sources and uses different types of valid forecasting algorithms.
The approach takes into account a great variety of factors that have influence on traffic development; all factors that we encountered over the years are included.
Important final step is to blend the outcome of complicated calculations with the knowledge of human experts.
|
SUPPORTING TOOL
|
In order to manage all this information and the required refined calculations, we developed
a sophisticated tool.
Besides supporting a very detailed traffic forecast, despite the massive data
handling involved, it focusses on transparency of the calculation.
Showing results from different viable paths gives insight in the sensitivity of the results.
|
HUMAN FACTOR
|
While the tool provides a solid quantitative basis, systems simply cannot always have it right.
Sometimes the human expert needs to make a judgement call.
For instance to give more weight to certain paths for certain markets.
Where other approaches often hide this factor in background parameter tweaking, OMP strategy gives it the appropriate position in the process.
|
HOW DOES OMP STRATEGY STAND OUT?
|
Many sophisticated models (e.g. QSI-based) have an important handicap; they only work in fully saturated and matured markets with complete data transparency.
Worldwide, there are not very many of such markets.
Elsewhere the refined detail of calculations is washed away by the incomplete quality of data.
The use of MIDT or PaxIS data is a shaky remedy. It gives a false sense of detail and accuracy; one never knows which portion of a figure is based on facts and which is made up.
|
NEW OPPORTUNITIES
|
Further disadvantage of these highly promoted approaches is that they over-value existing markets and fall short in unsaturated markets.
They always favor the status quo over more substantial changes. Maybe welcome as self-confirmation, but an obstruction for renewal.
OMP Strategy does much better in that field.

USE IN PROJECTS
|
OMP Strategy is used in several of our project-types:
- Network Design: As strong basis for planning of future network development.
- Business plan: As solid input for your business plan.
- Traffic Forecasting service: Objective traffic forecast as input for your decisions, or as independent cross-check.
